Revlon Colorstay Quad in Free Spirit and Sea Mist | Spring 2013 Pacific Coast Collection

I posted a sneak peek into Revlon’s Spring 2013 collection, read about it HERE. Aside from the lip butters, I also purchased the two quads in this collection.

Let’s take a look shall we?

The quads in this collection brings to mind the Pacific Coast, miles and miles of beautiful coastal waters. So in this collection we have beautiful blues and greens with purple accents.

FREE SPIRIT

I’m not very good with colors but I will try and call this a cool toned palette. It has 2 cool toned blue, one darker and one lighter, a dark grey with a bit of shimmer in it and a beige nude that’s very close to my skin tone. They are mattes with the exception of the dark grey that has a bit of a shimmer in it. Being that it’s matte, the texture is slightly drier but it’s not powdery in my experience. It is blend able, although it takes a bit of work and time but it can be done. When used over a primer, I can get at least 6 hours of wear out of it without creasing but I experienced fading about an hour before that.

For a tutorial using this palette check out Pink Lady Beauty by clicking HERE.

You can still find this in drugstores. I got mine at CVS for $7.79.

SEA MIST

I will risk it again by saying that this is a warm toned palette composed of dark eggplant purple, hunter green, baby blue and pink shades. Contrary to Free Spirit, these shadows are satin-y in finish and is not dry or powdery at all. The colors are beautiful when worn together and they are easy to blend. These are my favorite. I’m not fond of colors but these palette provide just that pop. I’ve used these over primer and I got 6 hours of wear before I had to take them off. No creasing or fading during use was noticed.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya and Pink Lemonade | Spring 2013 Pacific Coast Collection

I have reviewed the 2 darker shades in this collection previously, click HERE to read all about it. You can also find swatches of all four lip butters side by side HERE.

I have to say Juicy Papaya is my favorite in this collection. It is my perfect peach at the moment. What I like most about this shade is that, like all of the lip butters in this collection, it does not have any glitters of all sorts. It is not matte either. It just has enough sheen to provide some dimension on the lips. It glides easily on the lips, stays long enough (at least 4 hours on me or until I have a meal) and is hydrating. Since it is balm-y in texture and formula plus the color makes it impossible for me to achieve opaqueness.

It is now available in drugstores here in Los Angeles. They should be available in drugstores everywhere. I bought mine at CVS for $8.29 plus tax.

PINK LEMONADE

Pink Lemonade is a very lovely muted pink with a hint of peach on the tube. I find it too light when worn though :( I think this would suit those with skin shades lighter than my NC30 (unless that’s the look you’re going for). It has a subtle sheen without being glittery. I find that it has the same properties as the rest of the lip butters in this collection. It has a balmy texture, lightweight and mildly hydrating. It wore at least 4 hours on me (it completely disappeared after a snack).

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Sorbet and Wild Watermelon | Spring 2013 Pacific Coast Collection

I have posted pictures of swatches in the previous post for reference. I decide to split up the post to make the amount of pictures manageable in each post. Today I bring to you Sorbet and Wild Watermelon.

SORBET

Revlon-Spring-2013-Lip-Butter-Sorbet-IMG_6760

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 053 Sorbet | Spring 2013 Pacific Coast Collection

Sorbet is one of the darker shades in the collection (the other being Wild Watermelon). I would describe this as a bright fuchsia. What makes this different from other bright fuchsias is that it’s not opaque but that’s not to say that it’s not build able. You can make the color pop by layering but I find that it will not reach full opacity like you can with a lipstick formula. I find the formula lightweight, mildly hydrating and easy to wear. It leaves a very light stain on my lips after the product is gone from my lips. Ladies who shy away from dark/bold colors should give this a try. It provides that pop of color without the heaviness of a lipstick. What makes the lip butters from this collection different is that they’re all devoid of glitter/shimmer. That’s not to say that they are matte. Being that they are hydrating/balm-y they do have that sheen.

WILD WATERMELON

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 063 Wild Watermelon | Spring 2013 Pacific Coast Collection

Wild Watermelon is the darkest in color among the four lip buters in Revlon’s Pacific Coast Collection for Spring 2013. It is red, the darkest sheer red I’ve seen. But don’t quote me on that as I’m no expert on red lips. But if you’re looking for a red shade, moisturizing, slightly long wearing than a gloss, lightweight, with a slight sheen without any shine, shimmer or glitter then look no further. Consider Wild Watermelon.

coming up next…Revlon Spring 2013 The Pacific Coast Collection

I finally found the elusive Revlon Spring 2013 collection. I’ve been hearing about it arriving at the East Coast stores and of course it took a century to arrive here at the West Coast.

Untitled

Revlon Spring 2013 The Pacific Coast Collection

I spotted it at CVS and made use of my extrabucks. I’ve heard so much about the Baby Sticks and reviews are erring on the negative side. Apparently they are very sheer and does not last very long on the cheeks or on the lips, so I decided to skip them. If you want swatches, Project Swatch has it up, you can take a peek at it HERE.

My picks for this collection are the lip butters and the quads. Thoughts and pictures will be up soon.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm

Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm

Hi guys! So sorry for the absence. Life events has been overwhelming lately and it has left me down and it has been so hard to pick up and move on. I decided at some point I need to keep up starting today. So having said that, today I have Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Beauty Balm.

Untitled

Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm

What I like about it…

  • the color scheme used is my all time favorite – neutral browns
  • the shape of the bottle is ergonomic as it can lie flat without rolling perfect for travelling
  • hydrating
  • consistency makes it easy to apply and spread
  • lightweight
  • has SPF
  • function as a primer

What I don’t like about it…

  • it does not even out and minimize my pores
  • it’s very sheer

I wish that the SPF is higher and coverage is better.

I can’t comment on its claim “treats to firm skin, improve elasticity and provide measurable anti-aging result“. My skin’s condition is not there yet and my problem really is hyperpigmentation and hormonal acne.

Final Thoughts: This is a very sheer consistency and as you can tell on the swatch below it disappears on my skin. It has its good points though. It is hydrating, lightweight and has SPF. I now use this as a primer and as a moisturizer.

coming soon from Chanel

I passed by my favorite Chanel counter and I was told they’re expecting the summer collection earlier than scheduled and it’s arriving any day now at Nordstrom.

20130311-174223.jpg

I was told the stylo eye shadows are Chanel’s version of the shadow stick. What makes them different is that they are a sheer wash of color. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Why would I want to buy a shadow stick for a sheer wash of color? I wouldn’t. I will reserve judgement until I have played with them. I am excited about the limited edition lip shades though as well as that gorgeous intense coral (Lilis) and metallic blue green (Azure).

Now for a ship date around mid-May, there’s the Avant-Première Collection. Now I don’t have much info but it looks like the colors are either new or repromotes and there’s only one limited edition, the beautiful peach pink polish in Starlet which I will definitely be getting.

What do you think? Anything caught your fancy?
