Happy Valentine’s Day with Guerlain Spring 2012

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Guerlain Spring 2012

Guerlain Spring 2012

I feel like I don’t have the right much less the guts to do this kinds of beauty post because I feel like I’m not a beauty/ I’m not beautiful. And yes…I know everybody are beautiful in their own way and so with that I’m sort of documenting my journey to self-love, self-appreciation and working with beautiful things (super pretty and colorful makeup that is).

So why did I choose makeup instead of exercise to boost my self-confidence? I actually did not chose one over the other because I’m doing both, I just chose to blog about makeup. Both are confidence boosters, one’s instant gratification via looking pretty and the other through endorphins released during (or was it after? anyways…) exercise.

I’m still new at this and I’m still doing trials and errors on stuff, finding out what works out the best for me. Pictures are from my iPhone’s camera so don’t expect much there. I will get my “real” camera to do the job as soon as I’m able to figure out how to use it.

So for Valentine’s Day I thought of using Guerlain’s Spring 2012 6 color palette called 66 Blvd du Montparnasse. It has lovely shades of pinks and plums in it. It seems like the colors are quite common and could easily be duplicated using colors from different brands. However, I’ve only been recently buying makeup so this is my first.

It also doesn’t hurt that the packaging is exquisite. Colors are very pretty, something I could use a lot (except for that pop of bright pink in the middle). Well, maybe it can work as a blush maybe? Overall, I’m very satisfied with this purchase.

So this is me. I now realize how lighting can be a friend and an enemy. Oh well…now I know. For the face, I mixed Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge #3 with a little bit of Giorgio Armani Long Lasting Silk UV Foundation #8. Then set with Le Metier De Beaute Visage de Soie Finishing Powder #8. Next, I used MAC in Base Study as eye base. Then used Guerlain Ecrin 6 Couleurs Eyeshadow in 66 Boulevard du Montparnasse for the eye. Applied Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Orchid Shimmer right at the lash line with the darkest shadow in Blvd du Montparnasse over it as well as along the lower lash line. Lastly I applied Guerlain’s Spring 2012 Noir G Mascara on upper lashes. Highlighted using Guerlain’s Spring 2012 Meteorites Cruel Gardenia on temples & brow bone. Used NARS Blush in Dolce Vita to add color to my cheeks. Used Le Metier de Beaute Brow Bound Eyebrow Pencil in Fawn on my eyebrows. Cleaned up my under eye area and used Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit in Honey to hide those pesky dark circles. Then topped my lips with Guerlain’s Spring 2012 KissKiss Gloss in 872 Flush Pink.

I loved how all these Guerlain Spring 2012 products worked so well with each other. My favorite in this collection has to be the Noir G mascara. Great separation of lashes, holds a curl well and smells good. Totally worth the $49. It is refillable and refills are about $26.

So what do you think? Any comments and/or suggestions?

And before I forget…Have a love filled day 🙂

xo, Emilie
