Le Metier de Beaute’s Mount Diablo Eye Kaleidoscope was released as a limited edition, exclusive to Neiman Marcus Walnut Creek (in California) commemorating said store’s grand opening. I’ve actually written a blog post on it, read HERE. At this moment, Mount Diablo is already sold out. By request, I am doing another dupes kind of post to see if any of the shades in the Mount Diablo is a dupe of any of the shades from previously released kaleidoscopes (or recently released ones). I have expressed my opinion about dupes in a previous post, read HERE.
On to the business at hand, shall we?
First shade, Castle Rock, is a satin pink with subtle shimmer.
I’ve narrowed it down some more…
The way I do my “research” into finding dupes is I look at the pan and see which are the shades I thought would look like the reference shade once applied to skin. So in the first set you can see that Oak St. Beach and Golden Gate Girl is too warm to be a dupe. But the other three are dupes, Rose Champagne is just more shimmery. It’s safe to say that the first shade in Northern Lights is an exact dupe.
The second shade, East Bay, is a shimmering, steely blue/gray.
Based on the color in the pan, I would think that the second shade in Splendid Frost would be an exact dupe but once swatched it falls a little short.
The third shade and my favorite, Mount Diablo, is a rich, matte mauve-tan.
Again, another winner! Woot! Woot! On my part at least this is a winner. Not only is it my favorite. But it looks like a unique color in my collection.
And the last shade, Walnut Creek, is a deep, rich matte chocolate.
In the last shade, I would have to say that the exact dupe of Walnut Creek would be the last shade in Cherry Blossom. Also worthy of taking note is that the second shade in Oak St. Beach and the third shade in Shades of Short Hills are exact dupe of each other.
Bottom line: Once again, please be reminded that I do not have all of the kaleidoscopes. In this particular kaleidoscope, I would have to say that two of the four shades are unique in my collection. I am glad I made the effort and made space in my budget for this kaleidoscope.
