Looking for Fall lippies in my stash…

I've been watching YouTube vids lately and I find myself looking into Fall 2013 lip colors. I think I have to get out of my nude lip comfort zone and it is the perfect season to allow myself to delve into the dark. Darker lip color, that is.

So here are the non-reds that I found in my stash. While riffling through my stuff I realized that the lip products I own are 80% nude/beige/brown with pink/peach tones in it. The rest are reds, burgundies and plums. I guess that's alright since I wear more of the neutral/nude colors.

So, from the picture above from left to right we have Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Truffle Kiss, Chanel Glossimer in 367 Intrigue from last year's Fall release, Chanel Rouge Allure in 124 Ambiguè, Tarte Lipsurgence in Achiote, Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Sangria, NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Valparaiso and NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Moscow.

I swatched in the same order as the first picture above and I have to say I am really starting to like these darker colors. I think I have to let these colors slowly grow into me to be able to enjoy during the colder season. I am looking into getting a few more in the following weeks. Do you have any suggestions?

xo, Emilie

  1. I love reds and actually feel odd without a bright lipstick. I like LMDB’s Bombay, and also Tom Ford’s Narcotic Rouge. For some reason and against conventional belief that I should use warm tones — I think pink-reds / cherry reds work better for me than orange-reds or maroons.

Sometimes I’ll do a full red lip, sometimes I’ll dab the color in the middle and then rub with my fingers to spread (more forgiving without liner).
